Joseph P. Costa

Associate 

Joe is an associate attorney with the firm. His focus is, as with the other attorneys in the firm, on elder law and representing the interests of seniors and their caregivers. Joe has quickly established a focus in elder abuse litigation and Medicaid administrative appeals. He has, for example, successfully reversed several denials issued by insurance companies in Medicaid dental matters.  

As with many successful elder law attorneys, Joe’s background is diverse and allows for a multidisciplinary practice. For example, Joe is accredited by the Veterans Administration to handle Veterans pension claims. His prior experience in real estate, insurance, mortgages, and finance also provide him with a real-world practical approach to solving complex legal problems. He prides himself on carefully listening to the concerns of his clients, understanding their intentions and desires, and delivering on his promises.  Prior to graduating from Rutgers School of Law, Joe enjoyed success as a retirement planner with UBS and Merrill Lynch and was elected President of The Hackensack Lions Club, a position his late grandfather once held.  He has worked directly with clients, navigating them through the daily swings of the capital markets while diligently keeping focus on their long-term goals and aspirations.   

During his tenure at Rutgers he became a member of the Good Shepherd Mediation Program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There he helped elderly individuals resolve disputes amongst family members, maintain their personal autonomy, and avoid foreclosure. Also, he has provided pro bono estate planning services to many of the underprivileged citizens of Camden, New Jersey, and has continued his pro bono service as a licensed attorney. Joe currently lives in Burlington County.
